SEX WORKER STIGMA IN MAUPASSANT’S “BOULE DE SUIF” AND TIRTAWIRYA’S “CATATAN SEORANG PELACUR”

This study aims to reveal stigma toward sex worker depicted in two literary texts i. e. a short story entitled “Boule de Suif” by Guy Maupassant, French writer and “Catatan Seorang Pelacur” Putu Arya Tirtawirya, an Indonesian writer. The stories are chosen for the reason that both works depect life of female worker. is designed as descriptive qualitative with sociological approach. approach applied because this looks at society’s views on workers tht reflected stories. Moreover, theories reviewed support analysis. Analysis focused stigma, manifestation stigmatization against workers, how each responds stigmatization, whether authors affirm or criticize their society.
